01Know the people

Start with who provides care and who coordinates your visit.

Ask for the clinic and treating dentist’s details

Request the clinic’s identity, the dentist’s credentials and the language used for clinical conversations.

Clarify who is responsible for what

Ask who contracts with you, invoices you, coordinates the trip and handles complaints. Ask how the facilitator is paid.

02Understand the proposal

A clear written proposal makes the questions easier to see.

Ask the dentist to explain the proposed care

Discuss alternatives, risks, limitations and what remains provisional until an examination. Medical decisions belong with a qualified dentist.

Request an itemised estimate

Ask about currency, inclusions, exclusions, possible extras, payment terms, cancellations and refunds. Confirm any separate coordination fees.

03Plan the practicalities

Let the clinic’s proposed schedule guide your travel decisions.

Confirm visits and timing with the clinic

Ask how many trips may be needed, the proposed length of each stay and what could change the schedule. Ask the clinician about any travel restrictions.

Separate the travel arrangements from the treatment

Confirm who books accommodation and transport, what they cost, and the cancellation terms. Do not assume they are included in a treatment estimate.

04Think beyond the trip

Agree how you will stay in touch with the treating clinic.

Ask for the follow-up plan in writing

Clarify how follow-up works from home, who to contact with concerns, any return visits and who is responsible for related costs.

Agree how clinical information will be shared

Ask the clinic for its appropriate process for records and documents. Do not send sensitive medical information through the general WhatsApp conversation.
